Edward Krasiński

The installation Battle of Grunwald/Tannenberg was executed for the Matejko Hall at the Warsaw Zachęta Gallery in 1997. Onto a life-size black-and-white photograph of Battle of Grunwald/Tannenberg by Jan Matejko, Krasiński pasted a blue horizontal strip characteristic of his works and cut out a door, behind which he placed his photograph of a natural size. In this way, the renowned conceptual artist triggered a dialogue with the Polish tradition of nationalist and Romantic painting.
